The new HDV format is intended to be a low cost pro-sumer HD format. It's 16:9 frame is shot either HDV-1 (1280x720@29.97 fps - progressive), or the HDV-2 (1920x1080@29.97 fps - interlaced). The footage is captured and recorded as a MPEG2 on 1/4" mini-DV tape.
As of the summer of 2005, MHD is offering a collection series based on the HDV-2 (Sony-Z1U camera), you can check the collections at MHD's Z1 Gallery
We hold great hope for the HDV format and expect future cameras and production equipment to only get better. And as the next generation of cameras become available - Mammoth HD will be adding footage captured with these systems.
